Birth Chart Rectification

 I don't know how many people have told me that they don't know the exact time of birth. For an astrology reading to be accurate it is key to know this piece of information. The exact time is what is used to determine the Ascendant of the chart. Without this pertinent piece of information there is no way to determine the houses that the planets were in at the time of birth, therefore preventing the possibility of an accurate assessment. 

Chart rectification is like reverse engineering the chart. It is done by utilizing transits, progressions and Solar arc directions of certain, specific events of someone's life and comparing them to the transits at the potential time of birth.
It is  important to make sure you exhaust the possible resources in your given area. Even though the hospitals may not have the actual time on the birth certificate, in the U.S., the State Department of Vital Resources may have more detailed information.
The technical procedures of rectification are valid and useful, but they are not foolproof, especially when the birth time is completely unknown and the window of possibility is twenty-four hours wide.  It is both wise and ethical first to exhaust all the time-sleuthing possibilities available. 

If you can find the actual time of birth, this is BEST but if you have exhausted all other avenues then this can be a very helpful tool.

When doing a chart rectification actual dates of major events that have happened in life are required, any dates outside of a month from the event will not work. The closer to the actual even the better. The good news is that the time is not needed, just the date. These might include marriages, divorces, births of children, deaths, moves, or major accomplishments. Any information that can be provided is helpful! Often people may say, "I know I was born in the morning" or "I was definitely born in the afternoon". This information can actually be very helpful.
